About

paulatoast10-04.jpg   Welcome to my personal Blog Pages!  Thank you ever so much for visiting, I appreciate you stopping by!
WHO:  My name is Paula, I’m trying to get in the habit of posting weekly now.   And here is a little bit about me:
& WHERE:  I was born & raised in Albuquerque, NM, USA, where I currently reside.  For those unsure of the location, that’s in the SW United States. . . Between Texas and Arizona.  I occasionally still get asked if I need a visa to come and go from New Mexico.  I have to just laugh.  (The answer of course is: “No.”  New Mexico IS part of the United States of America) The question was more common when I was a kid, upon my summer visits to Maryland.  My east coast friends used to ask all the time.  I finally gave up explaining it and gave into their ideas about living in teepees or rounding up the wagons at night!  I told them we had Taco Trees and Burrito Bushes.  I’m just awful!!! hehehe  Later on, I set them straight.  :-)

A LITTLE BACKGROUND:  Since adulthood, I have lived a few other places (Maryland, South Dakota, and Texas), but I’m back in Albuquerque now.  I have family here.  I was divorced but now I’m remarried.  I have a Degree in Communications. I adore my 2 cats. But my 2 cats are not crazy about the puppies we brought home in May of 2011!  I hope with time, as the puppies grow & mellow, the cats will come around & decide dogs are not so bad.  I’m a nut for weather, especially intense weather.  I enjoy writing.  I’m an avid photographer and a ham-radio operator. I’m also a hot air balloon pilot (since 1981).

WHAT & WHY:  I first started this blog in 2005 (I think) over on BlogSpot but decided to try WordPress and have been fairly happy with it, although I wish I could get a better handle on getting the text to wrap the inserted photos a little better.  Anyway, I believe I migrated all of that other content over here.  When I first started blogging, I wasn’t sure what I was doing or what it would be about.  I was only curious as to what all this blogging thing was about!  So I set out to learn.

I started with something initially that my family & friends from far & wide could check into and see what I’m up to.  I have since learned that other people stumble upon your blog and check in periodically.  How cool is that?  Over the years, I’ve toyed with the idea of developing another blog for a more widespread audience.  Therefore, I am currently working on devising that.  I’m still working on what niche I will cover and what other things I will have on that site.  It is under construction now and when it is ready, I’ll include a link here & in my sidebar under Blog Roll.  So by all means, please stay tuned and check in with me again.  PLEASE feel free to leave a helpful, or constructive, or even just a friendly comment to say “Hi.”  I’d love to hear from you!

You take care and have a nice week!
Be well!
~Paula

Hi Paula,

I’m designing a web site banner for a personal project with a few friends using Site Build-it. They have a template with lightning. I like your photo much better and wonder if you’d approve of my using this photo from your Flickr.

Sure Lynn,

As long as you credit me (Paula L. High-Young), you may use my Lightning photo.
And Thanks for the complement and thanks for asking!
Happy Thanksgiving.
